I did a quick search before I posted that just to see what was out
there. Under $25 at Amazon. Probably more for better quality connectors.

It does allow you to switch the tv on automatically to the Apple tv channel
or if your watching a tv show it switchs to the HDMI channel for the apple tv.

The remote took me some getting use to but I can also use my apple tv gen 3
remote to control my gen 4 tv.
The only thing I'm not happy about is the fact the apple tv 4 gen doesn't have

I love my apple tv#4! I had the third gen one but it suddenly went dead. Yes, if you have
a tv with modern hdmi ports the apple tv will turn the tv to the correct input when you
power it on. I have a large library of tv shows on my mac and I mainly use the apple tv
for listening to those. It also does pretty good with audio books except for one thing,
abouut every 15 minutes during playback of an audio book you'll hear a "bleep"
that over shadows the audio from the book, not a deal-breaker though!
