Yeah,

I've got a Samsung 32 inch led tv, I click one of the buttons on the apple tv
remote and the Samsung tv turns on

It starts off at the standard tv channel and then approximately a second after
it turns on it flicks over to the correct HDMI input,
I have a blueray player connected via HDMI also and it does the same thing,
I open the disk tray of the blue ray player and the tv turns on and when I
close the tray the disk starts playing.

I take it this is a standard HDMI feature but then I don't know what tv
companys do.

Sounds good, so does your Apple TV automatically switch to the appropriate HDMI
input source or does this truly depend on a feature I read about, HDMI CEC,
available on recent televisions and home theatre equipment?
