Hi Mark, Question is when did you create that USB installation media?
Apple have twice in the past 7 months that I can think of, Re done their certificates for their installation media Meaning that your installation media is like mine was earlier this year and that is somewhat out of date now. I've had this happen to me also a few months ago and I had 2 options to get around the problem. The first and longer to setup option is on another machine download the installation media from apple and recreate your Installer USB device. The second is possibly shorter but could be more of an issue if your not carefull. That is to set the time and date on your mac back to when you created the usb device and then try again to install from your current USB device. This works according to one of my work colleagues who is a mac specialists Once the os is installed, you reset the time to the correct time /date and then you should be fine to carry on what you need to do, including downloading a new installer image nd then create your OSX Installation USB. Before I began, I completely wiped the internal drive of all its partitions but, when I tried to install from the USB key, I kept getting an alert that the copy of El Capitan could not be verified and the only option I was given was to click the OK button, upon so doing, simply took me back to the beginning/start screen. After going through this several times, I attached an Ethernet cable, thinking that this would allow the copy to be verified but, no, I kept receiving the same alert. Finally, I gave up and used the Yosemite USB key which did not give me any trouble, whatsoever. Any thoughts on this? By the way, before I began, I tested El Capitan on this particular computer by running a cloned copy of it from one of my USB Thunderbolt drives.
