if you're doing specialized work, such as recording, audio production
etcetera, then you definitely will need a numpad as far as I've heard.
I, on the other hand, have a full wired keyboard with a numpad, and I
keep it tied to my Dell Inspiron E1505, which is running the deprecated
OS, Windows XP! That is to say, I really haven't missed the numpad on OSX.
