Um, money has nothing to do with this. What’s the real factors are size / thickness and durability. You can seal up that lightning port against water and damage easily and it’s a thinner package than a headphone jack so you can shave a millimeter or 2 from the thickness which really is a big deal. You could also almost grow the case on to the phone making it super durable with no joints.
