Text is always stored as uncontracted, not contracted, braille. In order to
store the text as it's print, uncontracted form, it must be translated by
VoiceOver. There are two modes for contracted braille input The switch is
called automatic braille translation. One setting means whatever has been
entered into the buffer will be translated once there has been no activitn for
one or two seconds. Once translation occurs, anything entered is the start of
something new. The other setting means translation does not occur until space
or enter is pressed. In this setting, translation does not occur until then,
allowing the braille to be corrected before space - translation.
