Hi, Which Mac laptop do you have? MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. Only older MacBook Pros, and quite old MacBooks have Firewire. USB to ethernet would work for most of those, but the newer models would do better with a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adaptor instead.
