Basically, you move the drive in a figure 8 pattern over the surface and it scrambles everything on the disk. You could also go the hammer method or just take a screw driver and open up the drive and pull out the platter. Once you touch the platter you’ll ruin everything on the surface and you can feel how a hard drive works to boot. It actually is a pretty cool process.
