 Most of mine I've either put into one of my windows servers or put in to an 
external drive case and used it as an external USB 3 storage device as backup 
etc.

 That way you get more benefits for same cost.

    I am talking about the existing internal drive. I am more curious what 
others do with the old drive as I am sure mine will fall into a hiding spot to 
be forgotten. So think it best to secure erase it first and know how long it 
might take.
