Another great, and very reliable way to distinguish the malware from the
genuine article is to examine the link they want you to click. If it
doesn't end with "apple.com," it's most likely bogus, though Apple does
maintain other domains, e.g. icloud.com.

I like to report these kinds of phishing attacks. I keep a short list of
specific addresses that major companies who are frequent targets of such
attacks have setup for recieving these kinds of reports. I have
addresses for PayPal and for the IRS. In this instance the correct
address to forward this kind of mail is:

[email protected]

You do want to forward, as they will need to examine the email's
header--its metadata.

PS: It's something very much like this that compromised John Podesta's
email that was so much in the news during the U.S. election. He was
fooled by one of these "man in the middle" attacks that got him to
reveal his gmail password.
