Hi there,
First, you can press control command f again to toggle in and out of full
screen and or youse your vo keys and find the tool bar, to the left of the
toolbar is a zoom button, this button when pressed takes you out of full screen.
Second part of your question, it’s to not put to fine a point on it
because windows sucks.;) Ok being more detailed here, there’s two things going
on primarily. First, windows is a less efficiently written operating system.
The Mac you’re used to working on has a tuned unix kernel and unix is very good
at managing hardware even older hardware. Windows on the other hand has it’s
own kernel, less efficient file system, lots of memory leaks and is written in
my opinion poorly. It’s gotten better through the years but it is not as
efficient as other platforms like Linux or OS X etc. So by it’s nature it has
a lot more over head.
Next, you’re running it in a virtual environment. This means your host
Mac is running software that has a virtual emulated PC with in it running a
file system on top of another file system etc. etc. It’s got a whole
additional set of layers of abstraction between the OS and the hardware. So
it’s less efficient per instance than running it natively which will show up
more on less well written operating systems like Windows, especially older
versions of windows. In large data centers and places where we run a lot of
virtual machines at once special file systems more like databases are used and
very high performance networks which is a very different environment than
running on your Mac. As far as performance goes, when ever you can do
something natively on the Mac the better it will perform.
