Hi Jane,

Meant to reply earlier with some suggestions for apps.  For sounds of  
all kinds, including ocean waves, streams, rivers, and rain sounds, I  
would get a program called Ambiance by Urban Apps ($0.99).  They have  
a great set of sounds, and constantly add more selections.  You can  
preview them and download any of the ones you like.  There's also a  
free Ambiance Lite version that you can try out first.  I'd also  
recommend that you try out the (free) Lite versions of some of the  
apps from Red Hammer Software, such as "Relaxing Sounds of Nature  
Lite".  There are a whole bunch of these.

I recall that you're a news junkie (at least with regard to podcasts),  
so you might want the free NY Times and AP Mobile apps.  There are  
also some NPR apps.
