Hi,

I am having to use a mac for work and am running into some very aanoying
limitations I hope some of you may have found workarounds for.
These mainly show up when using Vim and Emacs from a shell.

In Vim, every time I arrow through files I get loads of "space space space
space space" jabbered at me, with the braille display showing this briefly
as well every time I arrow up or down. Needless to say this is incredibly
annoying, can this be stopped somehow?
I realize tdsr exists, but I'm guessing braille won't be included in that.
Also, brltty might work on mac but how well? Does anyone have experience
with this?

I haven't played with Emacs much yet but I am foreseeing similar issues.
Even when using emacspeak, I'll once again have the issue of not having
braille track the speech properly. BRLTTY might help in this case, if
VBoiceOver doesn't monopolize the braille display that is, or if switching
between VoiceOver and brltty + emacspeak can be done relatively seemlessly.
Once again, any experiences you guys may have on this is very much
appreciated.

On the GUI side, TextMate seems to be the only halfway decent code editor
that's not a complete disaster with VoiceOver, unless I've missed an
undiscovered gem. TextMate seems ok, but poorly documented. Is anyone using
it with success on here, if so, what keystrokes do you use the most?
Are thee any other tips you guys might have for an accessible development
environment on OS X latest?
I do have a Windows VM running in Fusion for if things get really dicy, but
dev is heavy enough on the hardware resources as is so if I don't have to
introduce a VM into the mix that would obviously be preferred. Not to
mention the incredibly annoying tendency on OS X's side to intercept some
key combinations meant for the VM, most notably windows+m minimizing my
friggin' vm instance. :P
I'm open to your ideas, I really am, and any frustration evident from this
post is purely a by-product of having to grab for my Windows VM far too
often for comfort so far, most notably in advanced web app scenarios and
efficient software dev. Please enlighten me on how to be efficient without
it in these areas.

Regards,
Florian
