Or another possibility is that the Macintosh thinks that the two networks
are equal costs and is throwing every other packet down a different
network.
Now if the router is throwing away items from the LAN segment that are
sourced from the Wireless network or vice versa, slow start TCP will never
speed up and the window size of the TCP session should be equal to the MTU.
I certainly have worse performance at my office when both my thunder based
 ethernet  and 802.11AC connections are active.

Would pinging the IP address of the NAS be able to show this type of
errors? I haven't played at these layers in a bit and generally IPv4
configurations have to be more paranoid then they did 15  years ago.

Also you mentioned in the original post that there was more than one way to
set up the NAS on the router? Is one of these protocols equivalent to NFS?



BTW a very good person to work for is looking for a Top Secret cleared
Network LAN engineer in the DC area.  :)
