Tim, that’s a great call, it might be a mix of things. His WiFi could be taking priority for some reason and if the router and Mac are to close that’s going to have all sorts of bad performance although he has a very high end consumer router, we have the same routers in fact and he might just be overloading the input. The distribution pattern of a WiFi network in full power mode is a toroid and a mid power setting WiFi is a donut like circle. He might be preferring to use the WiFi and resting inside the toroid which would definitely have negative impact. I bet it’s Apple keychain distributing settings that activated the WiFi. Good call. Paul, turn off your Wifi and insure the Ethernet shows connected. You can do this under preferences. You can also just turn WiFi off under the Wifi control menu reached by pressing VO M twice. I suspect you know this but I’m being thorough and in case someone else new searches for the thread. Press vo m twice and arrow over to the WiFi settings, I don’t believe you have to hold down option to arrow down to turn off WiFi.
(Here’s hoping Paul doesn’t already have the WiFi off, then it gets interesting). I can’t imagine that Paul needs to tune any TCP settings on the Mac, I’ve never had to. Such a difference in load times seems really unusual and whacky to me.
