Of course speed is only as good as the weakest link. Most sites I access don't get anywhere near using the full 1Gb but Apple's servers/pipe seem up to the task. My recent iOS updates for the phone and ipad were downloading at about 110MB/second so the 2.4GB update only took about 30 seconds. Probably couldn't even sustain that without an SSD drive in my Mac Mini.

Same with Cable as they allocate fewer channels to upload than download. Good
news is this is finally starting to change. Verizon FIOS for example gives you
the same up and down. I have a gigabit feed now so a full 1.25 wave up and
down which makes for publishing that youtube content so much easier.

I remember back in the day some satellite providers actually had the option to
use dialup for outbound traffic. I guess it was faster to send an URL and
cookies via telephone modem than up through the satellite. Outbound traffic for
most people is very small compared to inbound. I guess that's why most
consumers got ADSL where the A stands for Asymmetric as the upload speed was a
fraction of the download speed.

Let’s remember, if you’re using a dish to send your packets back up to a device
in orbit you’ll have a very slow up channel. Down channel can be decent, with
in the speeds of the older mobile networks but up channel is typically less
than a megabit.

I just thought that maybe a device or browser adjustment could make pages
upload more quickly, just as adjusting the quality of Youtube videos can make
better function.

Thanks again,

I don’t understand the question. What do you want to boost in a web browser?

Thanks

Hi,

My household has recently switched to Hughesnet, which uses antennas instead of
cable. It’s supposed to be higher speed. It’s based in the master bedroom,
and can turn to go way down to the family room, where the lady of the house
uses a tablet. My room is closest to the base, but it seems that I have more
trouble than she does. Is there a way to boost it in a web browser and latest
version of Mac?

Thanks,
