Mary, let me correct you on a few things here. Alexa has been in development 
for quite a few years and I find her to be very smart. Also, skills don't rely 
totally on the Alexa app. If you know what skill you want to enable, you can 
ask Alexa to enable it for you, thus not having to use the app so much.
