The problem in this situation is that the standard procedure for diagnosis of faults hasn't been followed. Idealy, the system should have been formatted and reinstalled, tested, updates installed, tested ... you get the picture. Since this hasn't been done, its going to be pretty hard to isolate the problem since we have no idea when the problem started.
