Hello Brandon,

I'm only now just tuning into this thread but I would suggest that you consider
getting either an Air Print compatible unit or, as I have, a simple
Ethernet-ready Samsung monochrome laser printer.

There are many reasons why I like Samsung printers including the fact that the
units are well built and that the customer service is top-notch. Also, an
Ethernet printer has its own web client. This means that you can use your
preferred web browser to login to the printer settings and see any info you
want including how many pages have been printed with the current toner
cartridge.

I was helping a friend shop for a printer just last week and, in my opinion,
the Samsung monochrome laser printers still offer the biggest bang for the
printing buck.

In terms of accessibility, a totally blind person can operate these units as
there is only an off/on button and maybe one more button that you can set from
within your web browser.

The sheet feeders are simple and easy to understand and use.

Please keep in mind that, in order to use the web client interface, however,
the unit will need to be connected to your home network via an Ethernet cable.
However, once connected, any device on your network can send text to the unit
to be printed.

The only downside to these printers is that they are, in no way, portable.

Last week, I saw several of these units at Frye's and Best Buy for around $82
or so. The color lasers start at around $180 or so.

Many of the air print units I saw, however, were cheaply made HP printers that
were inkjet devices.

It's funny, once upon a time I was the number 1 fan of HP printers but that was
a long, long, time ago. Now, I am a Samsung man and stand behind them 100%,
especially for use by a totally blind person.

Should you consider my suggestion, stick with the Samsung ML-3100 series or
higher.

Good Luck,

Mark

Subject: Accessible Printers

Hi,

A few months ago I asked about wireless printers that were accessible. Someone
suggested the HP Office 6815.

Today I just found the HP Office Jet Pro 6978. It looks very similar, but is
supposed to have a fully functional iPhone app that can control all
functionality of the printer/scanner, and also has their instant ink program,
so it orders new ink before you run out of it, which sounds useful.
apps for HP printers, and were they accessible?
I'm concerned about the accessibility of the app, though. Has anyone used this
particular printer or something similar? Have you ever used any
