Hi, I had this problem when I first got my Mac. It went away with the new versions of Safari or with 10.6.2. I don't remember which. If you are still having it, I would try making sure you have installed the latest Safari perhaps by downloading it from apple rather than by using the automated tool.
Other than that, I have no idea. It works fine for me and has for at least a couple of months.
