Christine,
Drag and drop was not needed. There is the keyboard shortcut method
and there is the context menu method.

Hi,
there's a few reasons that would cause them to be removed, but they would need
you to be using your TrackPad, or for you to specifically remove them with the
Contextual menu. Both are unlikely, so I'm not sure. the keyboard shortcut
you mentioned, is not the current keyboard shortcut for adding items to the
Dock. It is ctrl-cmd-shift-t now.

So . . . suddenly . . . the Mail, Safari, and iTunes icons have disappeared
from my Dock. I can find them by going into the applications folder; I can find
them using Spotlight, but command shift T does not seem to work for Apple
applications that are typically on the Dock, and trying to drag and drop as per
Apple's Support page is not working either. Does anyone have any clue how this
could have happened, and what I must do to fix it? :) TIA.
