Hi guys.
I tried both of this, but under the Mail behavior, one can't set wich
folder to use for trash purpose.
In the mailbox menu, there is no option called "use this mailbox for" :(
Both of you are using the latest Snow Leopard 10.6.2?

mailbox menu, go down to "use this mailbox for" and in that submenu hit return
on trash.
