I don't know specifically about El Capitan. But, I presume you caught
this pointer on accessibly installing Windows with Bootcamp that came
across this list a few weeks ago?

I can confirm that it works with High Sierra. I've successfully
installed Windows 10 following its guidance. I have run into more than
one gotchya, however. Example: For me on a 2014 Airbook, only the USB3
port will work for the install. My USB2 port will appear to work all the
way through partitioning, but will not boot Bootcamp.
