    Press and hold the home and power buttons for about 5 seconds. Then release 
and wait. If no joy, find some working eyes and check settings. 
One thing you might do is touch the status bar then 2 finger swipe yup which 
gets Voiceover to read all from top to bottom. During this process, press the 
volume up button until you hear Voiceover speaking.
