That's not the way to create a bootable USB device,

 You need about 7gig for high sierra 
Terminal for the command to create the bootable USB,
 And the installer file (file name.app) from within the download package.
The usb needs to be mac os extended journaled 
And GUID 
But the terminal command will format the drive as part of the setup.

I actually did it from the terminal.
Now i have tried re downloading the installer and put it via the terminal onto 
the usb stick.
I will now try to boot it up and see if it works.
