Hi, In the Messages app on your Mac, open Preferences and select the Account pane. If the iCloud account is enabled, then disable/sign out of it, close Messages Prefs and quit the app. RE-open Messages and go back in and re-enable/sign in to your Apple ID/iCloud account and it should begin working. If you use message forwarding as well, check in Settings, Messages now on the iDevice to make sure that the Mac is enabled for Message Forwarding.
