Outlook for Mac OS is quite accessible, based on my tests of version 16.9 as downloaded from Office 365. I notice, however, that it doesn’t offer the range of keyboard shortcuts that characterize the Windows version. For instance, I couldn’t find a quick way to choose a specific mail folder. Attempting to invoke the VoiceOver Item Chooser Menu caused Outlook to become “busy”. In addition, there are no shortcut keys for commands on the ribbon (it’s the same in other Mac versions of Microsoft Office applications).
On the positive side, Microsoft developers are clearly investing real effort to make their Mac applications accessible to screen reader users. This is good. The logic behind it is also clear: they want Microsoft Office to be available everywhere and to everyone who can afford it, even to people who didn’t choose Microsoft’s OS.
