I am running the latest El Capitan 10.11.6 on my late 2008 iMac. Note that this
hardware does not support any more recent Mac OS releases.
I use Apple Mail which has worked perfectly for years but about 2 weeks ago
outbound Email from my iMac stopped working with all outbound messages timed
out. Strangely outbound Email via the same router and email servers still
worked fine on my iPhone.
A protracted discussion with my Email provider revealed that this provider no
longer supports the SSL protocol used by my version of Apple Mail, claiming
that this protocol is insecure. Fortunately I can still send outbound Emails
using a different email provider, but for how much longer?
Have any others encountered this problem? Does this problem happen on High
Assuming that Apple have fixed Apple Mail on High Sierra might they retrofit
this fix to El Capitan especially because it is a security issue?
Many thanks and best regards...
