Buit is it the smtp address or the reply addresstht is recognised by the mail
list?

If it’s the smtp address then why not set the required smtp address in your
icloud configuration to be a secure smtp address so that it’s constantly uses
that address

Or set the gmail
Account so you don’t strike this issue again.

I know in the past you could have multiple smtp servers set on a mac so that if
you needed to change that you got a list of possible smtp servers to send
through.

I’ve not done this for a few years As my accounts have all used secure smtp to
log in to .

The list goes to my Gmail account, but Gmail has been set up to forward all
messages to iCloud for years. I always respond with iCloud, so people will use
that address instead. In the case of this list, though, I have to respond with
Gmail. Yet, I still receive the messages through iCloud, and don’t have Gmail
configured on my Mac at all so I don’t receive duplicate messages. I want to
send from Gmail in only the case of messages going to this list. Should I set
up something differently? Could I set up Gmail, but set it to never receive
email while still being allowed to send?

hi,

I would assume that you then have two different accounts in Mail so that one
version of you is used for most messages, and the other is for this specific
list. So, when addressing the mail message, keep tabbing through the fields
after filling out the To and Subject etc, right after the Subject field should
be a pop-up where you can choose which account to send from. This will
re-assign the outgoing configuration to the specific account you wish to send
from. If it is a reply, it's usually two shift-tabs from the message area to
reach this item.

Hi all,
On the Mac, how do I force a mail account that usually uses one SMTP server to
sometimes use a different one? I’ve configured the second server already, but I
don’t know how to choose which server I use. I normally want to send with the
default, but when sending to a certain email list, I have to send as the other
SMTP. Long story, but no, I can’t change the address registered with the list.
Thanks for any help.
