Since OSX is just unix underneath you can do quite a bit via plain old ssh. So if you ssh to another mac you could do

sudo softwareupdate -i -a

to install all the appropriate updates. Do a man on softwareupdate to get details. Likewise you can just

reboot

with the appropriate privileges to restart the machine. Here is a handy list of shell commands to use on osx:

To find out all the details about your computer try

system_profiler

You can also inspect and change a number of system settings using systemsetup. Do

systemsetup -help

for a list of what can be changed.

Hi.
Sorry, I should have mentioned. I am totally blind and also use
braille. I'd like to interact with the GUI on the mac remotely, if
possible, so I'm afraid any remote access solution will need to be
accessible to a blind user. I know there are probably tons of such
solutions for sighted users.

Yes, this is one way perhaps, but rather expensive. Thanks, but think I'll
just run from machine to machine or find another way. :)

Hi,

I know this won't fit the easy way, but:

it's shell scripting. if you know some unix or have used terminal before,
this might be the ultimate way. But hey
