I can only speak for Mojave. The space 1245 toggles
contracted/uncontracted braille. However, I drilled into the assign
commands function and found the one that toggles 6 dot and 8 dot. So
that now works plus I added 4 other command. Oddly, I cannot make the
assign commands to work under iOS.
Now I will spend some time seeing how good or bad braille support is.

and output. I could not really check this very well, because when I typed
things in the uncontracted mode, I got nothing for the gh or er patterns in the
program that I was testing with. I guess that makes sense if I am still in UEB

But then, before this summer I could barely read Braille and I still get a
little confused about some things.
