I had no trouble with upgrading from 10 to 11. The only issue (which existed in 10) is that Fusion does not read the volume labels I assigned to drives connected to Windows but it reads all the other drives connected to the Mac.

I actually started out with VMWare 10, and then tried to upgrade to 11. I was
able to get speech, but couldn’t get any of my USB devices, including my focus
Braille display, to connect. So I went back to VMWare 10 and am staying there
for the time being. Tom, is there any way you could find the post from your
friend? I don’t remember seeing it and I bet there may be others on the list
who wouldn’t mind seeing it again.

Thanks,
Pete

Hi,
There was a solution to this issue posted to the list a month or two back by a
good friend of mine.
You will need someone to help you set this fix up though.
I can see about creating a powershell script to change these settings, but I am
unsure how to launch powershell as administrator using a few key strokes to
make running the script easy.

Subject: Re: Screen reader muted in fusion?

I tried NVDA, and narrater, but the boot camp utilities sounds like the next
good step. Thanks

Hi have you thought of possibly using a copy of Nvda I think that is the
atheist screen reader to have in case jobs does not work.

The other thing you might chuck in your virtual machine, make sure that the
sound card is running. Also you have a headphone jock and headphones and/or
other device that can act as such, check to see if the output of your computer
is not going through the headphones. I would also strongly suggest downloading
Apple’s boot camp utilities because the soundcard, the video, and the touchpad,
and the networking parts of your computer if done correctly all have
appropriate Windows drivers.

Hopefully this should get you started on troubleshooting this?

Ok, this is very strange. I can get windows installed, but narrator and jaws
both can’t be heard. I can hear the chimes and windows sounds, but no screen
reader. This is in vm fusion 11. Do I need some type of sound card or
something? Makes no since to me since I can hear all of the windows chime and
mouse clicks. Someone help please. Google has provided no answer.
