Hi, First, it sounds like you're no longer signed in to your Google Drive on the Mac. That would make it so that things that were deleted were not synced with the Google Cloud. This would also probably make it so that you couldn't share files from the Finder. If you are sharing to another Google user, then there's no need to send things as a "sharable link". You can simply share the file and check the box that sends them a message that something was shared with them. In that web dialog that appears when you share something, there is also the sharable link if you choose to send that link instead.
