My sincere thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I appreciate the recommendations for antivirus software for the Mac, but I also appreciate hearing from those of you who feel such software is unnecessary. My concern over the possible susceptibility of Macs to harmful invasions is prompted by recent articles in leading tech journals that suggest that Macs are becoming increasingly frequent targets, and that the notion that they are immune from threats is, in some cases, at least, a misguided one. I am not going to take issue with those on this forum with much more expertise than I when they say they don’t run such software. I recognize that doing so may in many cases be unnecessary and may even slow down machines.
I have decided to update my ClamXAV package and now have a subscription, which is the only way one can continue to receive updates. There is also a new version, 3, which seems to work quite well with VoiceOver.
