Hi,

Nothing ever "disappears" from your devices. What happens with Apple Music is
that an iCloud Music Library is created on your behalf. So all your content,
including playlists is copied up to iCloud for syncing across all your devices.
So, copies of the music you've ripped are either uploaded to that iCloud Music
Library, or if Apple has that same title in their library, it is simply marked
as usable and downloadable by you. This saves on Cloud space as titles that
Apple has in their own library do not need to be stored tons of times by tons
of users. Keeping this in mind, it is important to keep a local copy of your
ripped music, as Apple downloads an "Apple Music" encoded version of the song,
which is great as long as you remain an Apple Music customer. When you
terminate your Apple Music subscription, you retain the downloaded copies, but
because they are Apple Music encoded, you will lose the ability to play them
after a bit of time. Because you've kept the local copy on your Mac, those
titles won't be affected by the Apple Music limitations, but the iPhone
downloaded versions will.

the iTunes Match service also creates an iCloud Music Library but does not have
the Apple Music restrictions when you terminate the service. I love the
ability to have the same library across all my devices, so love both the Apple
Music and iTunes Match services. there are benefits and limitations to both.

Back to your original question, no you won't lose that music, but you may need
to copy it over again from your Mac if and when you do so.

Hi all,
I just started copying all of my CDs into iTunes on the Mac. Must admit it is a
million times easier then doing it with iTunes on a windows machine. My
question is: Once I’ve finished ripping the CD it appears in my music App on my
iPhone along with a download button. I’m guessing this is happening because I’m
subscribed to Apple Music? If I download the album that has shown up in my
music app on the phone, will it vanish from the iPhone if I cancel my
subscription to Apple Music even though it is the same album I copied from my
CD onto my Mac? Or should I be transferring the copied album from my Mac to the
iPhone directly so I don’t need to download it?
Hope this question made sense?
Thank you,
Petrus
