Hi Karen, The easy answer is, "Sort of". Apple Music is far from perfect. As far as I can tell, it does a comparison of the title, the artist, the time and some digital comparisons to match things. The digital comparisons are to ensure that the song is actually what you say it is. We would not want you to have a copy of Kind of a Hush mislabelled as Ticket to Ride, thus giving you an possibly incorrect song and possibly invalid copy of the song. The other comparisons don't always work perfectly either, although they do a pretty good job. Normally, the rules are that if Apple can't find the song, it will leave your uploaded copy alone. Sometimes though, I've noticed that it substitutes a live version of a song for the studio version. There are things you can do to fix this mismatch, but it still was a mismatch. I tend to keep a backup copy of my ripped music just in case I need to tweak these sorts of errors.
So, as you can see, the answer is not particularly straight forward. At least in my experience. Later...
