Yes, Logitech was right on the money with that keyboard. Wish they would make
a version for the iPad Pro 11 inch. That is my only regret of upgrading. That
keyboardd has functions that make you think your using a laptop. You can hide
and unhide the onscreen keyboard, this is most handy when doing auto fill. It
has a button to toggle between all keyboards installed, you can access
spotlight on the fly, and even use your media keys when listening to music or a
video.

That smart keyboard for the 11 inch sucks also. Has no function keys, no

edge protection if you do drop it. I had the 6th ten 2018 model, but sold it
and got the iPad Pro 2018 model. Waiting for the keyboard made by bridge, it
is currently on back order, it is suppose to make your keyboard look like and
MacBook Pro setup. We will see. Right now I am substituting with the magic
keyboard,

Hello Donna,

Yes, I have found the same, with regard to swiping in order to find certain
buttons.

I am also using the scrub jester, a great deal.

I've heard wonderful things about that Logitek keyboard case. So far, I'm not
that impressed with the Apple Smart Keyboard. It's thin but it's not very fast
and it does not have an escape key. Try as I may, I cannot determine the use
of the function key on this keyboard.

Tell me, do you find that, even with the keyboard connected, you must still
continue to use the display to interact with the device? Does your keyboard
have an escape key?

If you really like the Logitek keyboard, let me know and perhaps I'll pick one
up. I'm almost certain they won't have any for 10.5 anywhere but either online
or at Apple.

Apparently, my poor little 10.5 is the proverbial black sheep of the iPad
family, these days. (smile).

Hey again, Mark,

I'm having trouble getting used to navigating the screen, too. At this point,
I find I'm doing a lot more swiping around, which kind of negates the benefits
of a touch screen. But for example, it seems like the only way I can get out
of a settings menu is to swipe all the way back through the options until I
hear the back button spoken. If anyone has pointers for navigating the larger
screen, they would be appreciated.

As for holding the device, I bought a Logitech keyboard case with mine, so my
plan is that often at least, I will just set it in my lap or on a surface, like
I would a laptop. I'm actually starting to wonder to what point this thing can
become a laptop replacement.
Cheers,
Donna

Hello Donna.

Wow! Good for you. Congratulations on your new iPad.

I purchased an iPad Pro 10.5 inch.

I purchased the Pro because I wanted faster speed, along with TouchID and the
ability to use the Apple Smart keyboard. Also, Pro has four amazing speakers.

Now because of a home office computer catastrophe that has since been resolved,
even though I've owned my iPad since Monday, I've only spent about 2 hours
working with it, so far.

I'll tell you that, while I love the sound quality of the device and the
display is amazing, I'm having a bit of a problem getting used to VoiceOver on
the larger display.

I don't like the split screen effect which, when I look at it with my eyes,
makes sense. From a blindness perspective, however, I prefer iPhone, so far.

What I mean by the split screen effect is the fact that when you land on
General settings, on the left side of the display, all of the sub items are
located to the right. I get it, I just don't like it because it feels as
though I am compelled to use both hands to navigate.

Also, I cannot, as yet, get used to holding the device. I'm so used to holding
iPhone in my left hand and using my left thumb to navigate the display.
However, with the size of iPad, my left hand gets so very tired, very quickly.

By the way, I have the recently released iPad 128 in the house, also and there
is definitely a speed difference between the 128, which was recently released
and iPad Pro 10.5. The 128, is noticeably slower, in my opinion. It should
be, the cost is around $250 as opposed to $1000 for iPad Pro 256GB.

It's funny, when I went to Apple on Monday, they did virtually everything in
their power to convince me not to buy iPad Pro 10.5, with cellular.

They were really pushing the latest iPad Pro and they even went so far as to
push iPad 128.

In fact, I went through 5 sales people, re-entering the store 4 times, before I
found someone from whom I felt comfortable buying iPad Pro 10.5.

One sales person advised that I not buy iPad Pro 10.5, go home, think about it,
then come back and buy the latest iPad Pro. I told all of them that I had
absolutely no intention of buying anything with FaceID, at this time.

One more thing, I am finding it extremely difficult and frustrating using the
onscreen keyboard with VoiceOver. In fact, in many instances, I am using the
Apple Smart keyboard to enter passwords and search terms although I, so far, am
not a big fan of the Smart keyboard, either. In short, the iPad onscreen
keyboard looks markedly different from iPhone. I did not expect this.

In so many ways, it feels as though I am having to re-learn iOS; something I
definitely didn't expect.

Be this as it may, I am in this for the long run and will definitely keep my
iPad Pro 10.5.

Mark

Well, I'm now the proud owner of a 2018 iPad, and a Logictech keyboard

very glad for BestBuy's two-week return policy. lol

Guess I'm off to play!

I have the mini 4. Its main purpose is as a backup should something happen to
my hearing. Its in a case with a qwerty keyboard. Pair the mini with a braille
display and I can communicate with others.

I don't use it much currently but that will change.

Hi,

2 things. First, if you're considering an iPad, I would hold off as if your
looking at a mini, apple says they are releasing an iPad mini 5th gen some time
this year. I think 9-5 mac has articles suggesting such.

Second. The iPad mini is good for the simple fact that it is only about 7
inches and is great as a small device if you do not have a laptop and you can
always get a keyboard to use with it if you do not have one already. I would
be interested in other people's thought as well.

Hi all,

OK, so Mark has re-awakened the bug in me, and I'm thinking about buying an
iPad mini. But I'd like to do a sensibility check first.

I've been curious about learning Swift ever since Apple released Swift
Playgrounds. However, my interest is largely as a hobby, I don't see myself
suddenly embarking on a career as an app developer. With that in mind, I'm
wondering if buying an iPad is just a silly expensive purchase. Other than the
Swift Playgrounds issue, I've always felt like an iPad would just be redundant,
since I have no need whatsoever for the extra screen real-estate. so here's my
question. Do any of you own both an iPhone and an iPad? If so, what is the
value of having both devices? What niche or need does the iPad fill that the
phone does not?

Thanks in advance for any input.
Cheers,
Donna
