Hello Angus, If you're entering the code on the iPhone, use explore-by-touch to make certain that focus is on the correct entry field. I've never used a hardware keyboard to enter security codes on iPhone so I don't know if you're referring to a hardware keyboard or the onscreen keyboard. Regardless, your first order of business is to insure that VoiceOver focus is on the correct area of the dialog box.
In fact, I would go so far as to suggest that you enter the security code using only the onscreen keyboard, at least, until you are comfortable with the process.
