I tend to use the qwerty keyboard for navigating, but you can use the braille display as well - see the commands listed at https://support.apple.com/en-bn/HT209138
For example, dots 2-3-4 with space enters the menu; dot 4 with space and dot 1 with space move to next/previous item, respectively; dot 6 with space opens a menu and moves successively down the list of menu items; dots 3-6 with space activate an option, and so on. While it's true that the command assignments vary to some extent by braille display manufacturer/model, the commands involving the braille input keys appear to be the same across devices and defined by Apple.
