Yesh you can change it under get info and then go through the setting / config and I think genre is under details.

I’ve ripped most of my CD collection to my Mac now but some of them clearly are not the genre that iTunes says they are. When I’m at work I like to choose a genre and set it to shuffle so I get a random selection of songs, and I’ll suddenly get one that I’m not expecting.
