I use Numbers heavily and I do not know of any command like the one you seek,
but I may have a work around.

But, given the differences between Numbers and Excel, such a command should
not be needed with Numbers on the Mac.

As you probably know, each sheet with Excel is a giant never-ending grid.
Sighted people enter data in arbitrary locations to make the layout more
visually appealing. For instance, the first few rows and columns may be left
blank to provide a margin, and different kinds of data may be grouped together
in different places on the grid. This makes navigating with a screen reader
difficult as, when you come to a blank row, you don’t know whether there is
more data if you scroll down or not. So without the commands you speak of, you
could be left hitting the down arrow indefinitely just in case the next row had
data.

But in Numbers, each sheet can hold multiple table objects. Each table object
can be visually arranged anywhere on the blank sheet canvas. So there is no
need for a table object to have blank rows or columns to create space; instead,
the table objects can be positioned to leave space between them. Moreover, each
table object can have designated header rows and header columns so again no
need to leave blank rows to separate data rows from header rows. And each table
object should contain only related data, with different unrelated data being
placed into its own table object. That way again it’s not necessary to use
blank rows/columns to separate and group data; you can use separate table
objects to do so. Navigating table objects with VoiceOver in Numbers is easy,
so I find this method much more accessible for screen reader users.

Now, with that said, if you wanted to ignore blank cells in a table, you could
use the filter options to filter the table to show only cells that are not
blank, or that have values greater than 0, for instance. There are a number of
ways to do that but one way is to select the organise radio button from the
toolbar, then navigate to the table you’re interested in, then use VO-j to jump
to the format inspector, then select the filter tab/radio button, and then
interact with the scroll area and add a filter. Once the filter is set, you can
then navigate within the table using only the arrow keys to navigate only the
displayed cells. If you use VO + arrow keys you will navigate to all cells
regardless of whether they are displayed or hidden (i.e. ignoring the filter
rules). If you do that (navigate with the VO keys), and you end up on a hidden
cell, then the arrow keys probably won’t work until you navigate back to a
displayed cell using the VO + arrow keys.

Simon,
Yes, I know I need to find other ways, but I used that set of commands a lot
with JAWS to speed up the whole process of navigating, as well as
copying/pasting large amounts of data. Tax time is approaching, and I need to
start looking at all the data from our bank accounts and organize the
transactions into the various types for itemized deductions.
More on Taxes in a separate message, btw.
