I think one problem may be that you’re still thinking in terms of jaws and
windows whilst working on a Mac. When I first transitioned to the Mac someone
told me to just forget about jaws and work with vo because they are two
different systems and you can’t transfer functionality of one over to the other
and vice versa. I was stumped with numbers at first for the same reason you are
- skipping over blank spaces but it’s a different concept on the Mac you don’t
have data areas spaced out around an endless grid, instead you have a table to
contain one data set and multiple tables on a canvas. That way you don’t have
the problem of embedded blanks and the inability to skip past them. Header and
row columns are spoken perfectly well in numbers, and if you give it a chance,
and just forget about jaws and excel you Will find that numbers works
extremely well. I was a heavy Jaws and XL user to, now I’m a heavy numbers
user. Good luck to you.
