Hi,

to clarify, this key combination was the original combination for dragging and
dropping when it was first introduced way back in Leopard or Snow Leopard.
This method also required you to turn off cursor tracking and to do some
careful mouse routing. The cursor tracking part of it is no longer needed, and
depending on your cursor syncing settings, mouse routing is not always needed
either. I still do that part though as I find it often helps. No, this
combination and process has not been removed, it is still a part of VO
commands. VO-comma and VO-period or VO-full stop for those of you across the
ponds, is also used for drag & drop but has lots of limitations. The
VO-comma/VO-period drag & drop process seems to require items to remain visible
either within the VO cursor or within the visible portion of a scrollable
element. This causes problems when you are attempting to drag between windows,
apps or items from one table to another. This is where the old fashioned
method shines. VO-cmd-shift-space toggles between mouse down and mouse-up.
Yes, the combination is all those keys, ctrl-option-cmd-shift-space. It a
twister combination but can be made easier with VO-; to lock the VO keys, or to
create a more simple combination with the keyboard commander. I have a
keyboard commander shortcut set for this, but usually forget to use it and just
use the full key combination as I'm used to doing it anyway.

There you go. Your history lesson along with clarification.

HTH.

Later...

Try using VO plus semi colon to lock the VO keys. That should help. Don't
forget to unlock the keys again with the same command which is a toggle.
