Do you still have this email account active on your Windows machine?
All folder are sorted correctly on my Windows and also on the Mac using
IMAP. I am not using smart folders.
At the top of the mailbox list are the standard folders; inbox,
sent, trash. Below the smart folder are my 3 accounts and within each
all boxes are in correct order.

After inbox I have folders like VIP, draft, sent, junk, trash, Today,
and unread. Then follow the first of what I consider to be my top-level
folders, alphabetical down to one called “Yahoo”. Then follows three

created later, that are also alphabetical I find that I can only move
within each of the sub-groups, unless I drag a folder and place it
inside one of my top-level folders. So it appears that when I add a new
folder, it is always placed at the very bottom group, unless I append it
to another folder.
Also interesting that on the iPhone every folder is exactly arranged in
alphabetical order, regardless of when I added or created them. So they
do appear to be correctly connected to a single account.
I wonder if there is somewhere that sorting is being treated as in
groups, and via creation date rather than alphabetical?
