Hi Tim, I have Messages enabled on my phone within iCloud and I believe on my watch but will have to check that when have more time,
Why then do messages deleted from my watch not sync back to deleted from my iPhone? It would need to be enabled on all devices. There was links to that on the page I linked in my previous note. Basically though, you need to have Messages in iCloud enabled on all devices. On your Mac, that's in the Messages app itself, in its Preferences, whereas it's in Settings, Your Name, iCloud on iOS and iPadOS devices. Later... I have no problem syncing my messages between devices as far as sending and receiving goes. If I get a Text message or iMessage on my phone it will appear on my Mac , but it’s the deleting of messages that doesn’t happen. I just deleted a couple of messages off my Mac, one iMessage and regular text message and they are both still on the phone. n 19/11/2019, at 06:13, 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries <[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>> wrote: Hi, All devices that you wish to use iMessages and SMS messages from your iPhone must use the same Apple ID, they must be linked from within Settings, Messages on the iPhone, and it's beneficial to have them all set to use your iPhone phone number as the default "send From" address. As I mentioned though, the caveat here has to do with device connectivity. So, for example, if you have an iPad, a Mac and an iPhone, and if they are all turned on and connected to the same WiFi network, then syncing between devices will occur. That is, you can send an SMS from your Mac using the SMS cellular service of your iPhone. If the Mac or iPad are powered down or not connected for an extended length of time, they will not sync the messages that they missed while they were off-line for that time. That's where syncing in iCloud comes into play. It's all part of the Continuity feature set of the Apple ecosystem. So, basic syncing is handled through the Continuity feature set, but full syncing uses Messages in iCloud which fills in the gaps when connectivity was not present. I hope this makes some sort of sense. Continuity is explained HERE<https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT204681>. There are various services within the Continuity feature set such as Hand-Off, Continuity Clipboard, SMS and Phone forwarding and more. All require you to be logged in with the same Apple ID to iCloud, others may or may not require Bluetooth. Most is explained in the link I shared. Later... On my Mac and iPhone, they sync just fine. But on my old iPad Mini, they do not sync.
