Hi, The backup would have all your settings, pointers to apps and iCloud data, as well as non-Cloud based data. When it comes to Gmail, it is setup using iMap, which means that all gMail messages and such are stored on Google's servers, so even if you did have some local messages stored, it would sync up with the server and all would go away once again. Sorry.
