Once you have setup a mail account as POP, you can’t change it. You will have
to create a new mail account in order to use IMAP.
As I said, once POP mail has been downloaded from the server, you can’t put it
back. It is a one way deal.

You are right Brad, Outlook Express was using pop, sadly so is this Outlook. I
really didn't want it to but with my total lack of tech knowledge I didn't
insist. My Iphone is set up for IMap. If I change the settings (a whole new
challenge) in Outlook would that look after getting the mail onto the server?
Or is what is already on the computer going to need to be moved manually?

Thank you so much for the help!,
Joy

This is correct. If you are setup to use IMAP with your mail provider on your
iPhone,, all your mail boxes and their contents exist on your provider’s mail
server, and will just show up when you setup your account in the Mac Apple Mail
application.

If you are setup using POP on your iPhone, this will not be the case.
The old Outlook Express you were using does not support IMAP, and was most
likely using a POP setup.

If the mail is on the server, you should simply be able to access it from

Thank you to everyone who replied. The Outlook I am running isn't Office
365 I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I use my email A Lot, however, I
don't need it to do anything fancy. I just ended my twenty-one year
relationship with Outlook Express on Tuesday , ... should tell you all you need
to know about my email preferences to date. I've een (and am currently) using
the email on my IPhone. It sounds as though Apple Mail maybe the simplest
solution for me. Which raises the new question, how would I go about
transferring the contents of my Outlook into the Apple Mail? Because I have a
lot of contacts and reference information I want to keep!

Thanks for the help and advice,
