Hey, Brad: Fwiw, I've never regretted maxing memory resources. Even when on a tight budget, I've always, always put maximum memory into my machines and I've never regretted that.
The pain of the extra cost passes in a few months. The benefit lasts as long as you keep the machine in service. What's the benefit? Having more apps running in memory at maximum efficiency. Just my two cents (American). PS: I've even taken this approach when choosing CPU chips for my Linux PCs. I look more for L2 (and/or L3) memory on the CPU. I'll take a lower clock speed to get more on chip buffering.
