Jason makes a useful suggestion. I've been doing this forever on my various machines. in fact I find this approach so useful that I've defined a host of aliases to give me current time in key time zones around the planet. These are automatically loaded when I open a terminal session. Here are just a few examples:
alias pst="env TZ=US/Pacific date" #Pacific Time alias hst="env TZ=HST date" #Hawaii alias nzt="env TZ=Pacific/Auckland date" #New Zealand alias act="env TZ=Australia/ACT date" #Sydney alias wst="env TZ=Australia/Perth date" #Perth alias jst="env TZ=Japan date" #Japan alias prc="env TZ=PRC date" #China alias ist="env TZ=Israel date" #Israel alias msk="env TZ=Europe/Moscow date" #Moscow alias cet="env TZ=CET date" #Central European alias bst="env TZ=GB date" #Great Britain alias utc=gmt So, if I want to know the time in China, I simply type prc and press return Best, Janina 'Jason White' via MacVisionaries writes: > In the Mac OS terminal, set the TZ variable and then run the date command, > for example: > TZ=US/Pacific date > Which will show you the date and time in the specified time zone.
