Hi, It appears to be working as it should. It sounds like File Vault 2 is enabled. File Vault 2 encrypts your disk so that it is more secure. After shutdown or restart, this basic login will present itself. So, if it says "Username", and if you named your user "Eleanor", or "Eleanor Roberts", then simply enter that when the "username" announcement is announced. Press return, then "Password" will be announced. Enter the password and press return, wait 30 seconds or so and you're good to go. If you log out, it will present the regular login screen. This only presents upon shutdown or restart.

I have just had my Mac back after having to send it away for repair as it decided to crash/stop working completely. They appear to have done a clean install of Katalena. I have spent this evening re-setting it up with a friend. However, we are really struggling with VoiceOver. We went into system preferences and accessibility and enabled VO. We then went into users and groups, log-in options and accessibility options, and ticked the box that said about enabling VO from the start. However, this does not appear to have worked. Every time I now start my Mac VO literally says the word “username” and nothing more. It won’t tell me where I’m navigating on the screen or anything like that. So I literally can’t enter my password and log in myself. So was just wondering if anyone else has had/is having this problem with Katalena? Could anyone please send me a set of idiotproof instructions as to how I can set up VO properly and fix this problem please??? Any help really would be much appreciated, as what’s the point in having a Mac when VO won’t even speak to me to enable me to log in!!! Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.
